A Postpartum Doula provides evidenced-based information on things such as infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, mother-baby bonding, infant soothing, and basic newborn care. Also a caring ear to listen to any questions or concerns you may have after baby comes home.

A Birth Doula is there to provide support to the mother, as well as making labor a little easier and sometimes faster. This can be attributed to the continual emotional, physical and informational support that they provide during pregnancy and birth.

We ( Marlys and Amy ) met for the first time at our Doula training course. After a long weekend of intense learning and long lunch chats we decided to stay in contact. A week later Marlys emailed Amy to see if she was able to be a backup for her on a birth. Amy said yes and they decided to meet again. It was in that meeting that Horizon Doulas was born.
